Welcome to Lark Rise

Lark Rise is the new and expanding Parent/ Teacher Association at Larkmead School.  Lark Rise was established in 2007, creating a valuable link between parents and the school and school governors. All parents/carers/staff are automatically considered a part of Lark Rise and are welcome to attend committee meetings.  Lark Rise offers parents the opportunity to play an active part in the school community and have a voice within it.

There are many ways to achieve this: Fund-raising is always an important part of the role of any PTA, and Lark Rise has run successful events including a Barn Dance, and Bingo and Quiz Nights to date.  In addition, Lark Rise members have helped at school functions, such as New Parents’ evenings, demonstrating the presence of Lark Rise and attracting interest from parents joining the school. Lark Rise has offered further practical help in the form of a working party which painted the year 8 toilets and some parents have been able to provide support in the classroom. Whatever skills you have to offer, Lark Rise welcomes your contributions and your ideas.

Lark Rise is also an important forum for your views and opinions and an opportunity to share information with other parents.  This is where our playground conversations can happen - come and join us!

"The school's motto is 'achieving success through community'. Our school community consists of key groups: students; staff and parents. The potential for school enrichment through  parental involvement is enormous and Lark Rise is achieving this. Lark Rise is a PTA but it is much more than this and I look to the future with real excitement."

Chris Harris,  Headteacher

"This is an exciting time for Larkmead.  We are continually seeking to strengthen links between students, staff, parents, the Governing Body and the communities around the school.  Lark Rise is working with the Governing Body to improve communications with parents and carers. So, please get involved.  You will get a chance to hear about and influence new initiatives and to tell us what you think."

James Tweed, Chair of Governors
